My 3-4 year old Craftsman Eager 1 lawn mower that starts when pulled but then immediately stalls. Lots of oil and gas, and it ran about 2 weeks ago fine, but now when I start it up it starts puffing and then dies. Air filter? Spark plug? Treatment? Help! Thanks!

It could need a new spark plug, but it also might be the flywheel key. Did you hit something recently that stopped the mower? I judt replaced the flywheel key on my Craftsman mower because it hit a small stump and broke the flywheel key. It’s a 50 cent part that takes about 1/2 hour to install.

Sounds like a gas flow starvation problem. Check your fuel line from the tank to the carburetor for a blockage / restriction. If it’s ok then check the float chamber on the carb. for excessive dirt buildup preventing free movement.

I am assuming that your mower has a Tecumseh engine. Tecumseh has a good website with the following basic service manual. There are some really good problem flow charts and replacement part numbers. Hope this helps.
